From 7th April, .eu domain applications will be open to all on a first come first served basis. Please note that some domain names are reserved and that some may already have been approved under the 'Sunrise' phase for those able to demonstrate 'prior right' through trademark or company registration.
Please note that EC Regulation 733/2002 (dated 22nd April 2002) determines those who may apply for a .eu domain name. The regulation provides for the following categories of companies, organisations and individuals able to register a .eu.domain:
Undertakings having their registered office, central administration or principal place of business within the European Community;
Organisations established within the European Community without prejudice to the applicaiton of national law;
Natural persons resident within the European Community
Sunrise Phase
Applications submitted under the Sunrise Phase (7th December 2005 to 7th April 2006) will continue to be processed after the commencement of the Landrush phase. Documentary evidence will be scrutinised before a decision is taken as to domain registration. In the event that a prior right application is rejected or expires, the name will be returned to the pool for open landrush application.
Sunrise phase applications will take precedence over later landrush application.
